Carson, for when the light turns amber.

A deep merlot faux-leather jacket that wraps like a robe and holds like tailoring. The shawl collar stands high at the neck, then crosses the body in one clean line. A covered buckle belt draws in the waist and lets the hem flare softly as you walk.

The shoulder is gently dropped, so there is room for a fine knit underneath. The belt brings the waist back, so that room never reads boxy. The sleeves are long and easy: wear them slouched, or push them up to the forearm. The sheen is soft and satiny rather than hard, and it deepens to wine in the shade. Fully opaque. If it arrives creased from travel, give it a night on a hanger and it settles into its own shape.

Wear it over cream knit and wide-leg denim, with gold hoops and flat tan boots, for October markets and dinners under the heat lamps.
