Two honest things about a dress like this, because they're the two you're
already wondering about.
It creases. Every natural fibre does, and that's rather the point of them — but
this is the version that creases least. Hemp holds a crease far more grudgingly
than flax, and blending the two gives you linen's breathability with hemp's
strength and shape-hold. Wash it cold and hang it to dry — never hot water, never
a hot dryer, which is what shrinks linen — then steam it while it's still damp.
What's left at the end of a long day is a soft fold, which on good linen has
never read as sloppy.
And it doesn't give you a waist. It isn't trying to. It falls clean from just
under the bust and keeps falling, and the reason women buy this shape again in a
second colour is exactly that — polish without compression. After lunch, after a
flight, after a long afternoon in the heat, it still looks deliberate. If you'd
rather have a waist, run a slim belt in a tone that coordinates rather than
clashes around your natural one, and you'll have one in a second.
The straps are wide and tie in bows at the shoulder, so you set the length. The
back is smocked, so it gives across your ribs and settles onto you.
