Somebody painted a whole scene onto it. A horse and its rider crossing an ochre
field, trees, big open flowers spilling across blocks of rust and sky blue and
cobalt, and a border of blue petals running the hem.
Wearable art goes one of two ways, and the difference is entirely in how you wear
it. The rule is simple: let it be the only thing talking. Minimal jewellery,
nothing competing — and if you want to add a colour, take one that's already
somewhere in the painting. Matching every shade is what tips a look into costume.

The cloth is doing quiet work too. Linen is matte, and matte absorbs light and
settles a busy print down, where a sheen would have amplified it. That's the
whole difference between a painting and a poster.
Underneath the artwork it's properly cut. Fitted and seamed through the bodice to
a real waist, then away into a full skirt — the shape that skims rather than
clings, which is exactly what matte linen is for. The halter ties high at your
nape with long painted tails falling down your bare back, so the weight sits on
your neck rather than your shoulders. Adhesive cups or a wing style underneath
and there's nothing left to solve. The armholes are cut high, too, which is what
makes a sleeveless dress easy to wear — nothing to do with age, everything to do
with how it's cut.
